About Houldsworth Mill, 1st Floor, Houldsworth Street, Stockport, Sk5 6ds
Houldsworth Mill was constructed in 1865 by renowned Architects, Stott & Sons, for Sir William Houldsworth, a prominent mill owner. It was awarded Grade II listed status in 1975, described as “an outstanding example of mill design”.
Since 1998 the Mill has undergone a significant refurbishment and restoration programme by the owners, Heaton & Houldsworth Property Company, in conjunction with English Heritage, Northern Counties Housing Association, English Partnerships and Stockport MBC. Today Houldsworth Mill houses a mix of uses, including 70 shared ownership apartment, the Houldsworth Business & Arts Centre offering flexible managed workspace, conference suites, virtual office space and co-working environments to like-minded businesses, commercial office space, storage and workshop space, a gym, day nursery and on-site cafe.
The available office accommodation comprises the 1st floor of the North wing of the Mill, totalling 15,459 sq ft on a single level with character mill features including exposed brickwork, cast iron columns & beams and vaulted ceilings. The accommodation is fully fitted, partitioned and network cabled, meaning it is ready for immediate occupation with little capital expenditure required for fitting-out. The layout is designed for a single occupier of the whole, however it would be possible to split the space to create 2 separate suites of 9,621 sq ft and 5,837 sq ft. There is a large car park to the rear and sides of the Mill for use by occupiers, operating on a “first come first serviced” basis. There are over 200 marked spaces (including 6 disabled), plus an unmarked “over flow” area and further areas used for parking.
Houldsworth Mill enjoys a prominent location at the junction of Broadstone Road (B5169) and Houldsworth Street, close to the centre of Reddish. The nearest train station is Heaton Moor on the Stockport to Piccadilly line (approx. 15 mins walk) and a number of bus services operate along Broadstone Road. Stockport railway station provides direct services to Manchester Piccadilly, London Euston and Birmingham. The M60 motorway (Junction 1) is approx. 2 miles to the South, with a journey time (via the M56) of approx. 20 minutes to Manchester International Airport.
