LESBIAN & GAY FOUNDATION SECURE NEW OFFICES AT 5 RICHMOND STREET

5 Richmond Street ManchesterThe self-contained upper floor offices at 5 Richmond Street in The Village, Manchester city centre have been let to the Lesbian & Gay Foundation for their head office.

Following a re-fit, the Lesbian & Gay Foundation will relocate from their existing premises on Princess Street to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Floors of 5 Richmond Street, comprising self-contained premises totalling 7,315 sq ft. The move is anticipated to take place in Autumn 2010.

This attractive and characterful building was built in 1882 for M Nairn & Co, carpet and linoleum manufacturers, as their offices and textile warehouse and has attractive stone and granite facades, overlooking the Rochdale Canal.

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation have signed a 10 year lease with a 5 year break option.

Paul Martin, Chief Executive of The Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) said: “I am happy to announce that the LGF will be moving to new accommodation this autumn. We have many exciting plans for the three floors at Richmond Street, and the new space means that we will be able to reach out to more service users, support more lesbian, gay and bisexual people and hold more LGB&T events and projects than ever before”.

Chair of the LGF’s  Board of Trustees, David McGovern added: “It is fitting that in the LGF’s tenth anniversary year, we should be moving to this new space right in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village, in the very centre of the community we serve. We hope that being parallel to Canal Street, will make our services even more accessible to the LGB&T community, and encourage people who may not have accessed our services before, to come in and explore what the organisation has to offer; from counselling, to groupwork, to sexual health services to volunteering.”

5 Richmond Street is owned by private landlords, who have invested considerably in a high quality refurbishment of the office accommodation.

Comments Conrad O’Neill of Canning O’Neill: “The landlords are delighted to secure The Lesbian & Gay Foundation as the new tenants for the upper floor offices. Locationally, the building is perfect for the Lesbian & Gay Foundation and they have clearly recognised this and the quality refurbishment carried out by the Landlords in making their decision. The opportunity for self-contained accommodation offered by 5 Richmond Street and the frontage to Canal Street offered by the building were also clearly important”.
